Rockstar Games, the video game company under Take-Two Entertainment responsible for such iconic video game series as Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, and other classics like L.A. Noire and Bully, has acquired the studio by the name of Ruffian Games.
Ruffian Games is best known for developing Crackdown 2 for the Xbox 360 which released a decade ago. The developer has also assisted with various instalments in the Halo video game series such as Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
From now on, Ruffian Games will be known as Rockstar Dundee and a subsidiary of Rockstar Games much like Rockstar North, Rockstar San Diego, Rockstar London, Rockstar Toronto, etc. This news comes courtesy of a UK government Companies House listing — which you can check out for yourself here.
The developer put up listings for work on "unspecified titles for Rockstar Games" all the way back in October 2019, so this buyout isn't unexpected. It's believed that the subsidiary will assist with the future of Grand Theft Auto Online, however, it's just as likely Rockstar Dundee will have some involvement with the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto VI — more on that here.
