A recent LinkedIn job posting has some people wondering if
The Last of Us Part II, Naughty Dog's highly anticipated PlayStation 4-exclusive title, could also be releasing on PC — although, before jumping into conclusions, it is still best to check the facts first.
This job listing is asking for people with thorough understanding of current GPU architectures like AMD, GCN, Nvidia CUDA, as well as console or PC programming experience, and this is where things get rather interesting, since the PlayStation 4 and upcoming PlayStation 5 have AMD graphics; not to mention experience with PC programming.
According to the job description, experience with DirectX12 is also a requirement, but the PC programming bit is what makes this rumour seem somewhat plausible, especially after the fact that
Horizon Zero Dawn PC port has also been heavily rumoured, and the same could be the case for Naughty Dog's
The Last of Us Part II.
If this rumour ends up being true, it could actually make a lot of fans somewhat upset, especially since exclusivity plays a big part on purchasing a console; with many players actually, and exclusively, purchasing a PlayStation 4 to play games like
The Last of Us Part II,
Marvel's Spider-Man, and
Horizon Zero Dawn — to name but a few, of course. We'll just have to wait and see.
Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.
The Last of Us Part II will release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on the 29th of May.
