Amazon has had quite a rocky road when it comes to entering the gaming world. With the recent release and subsequent flop of their game, Crucible, it has forced the company to reexamine how they can tackle the gaming climate, which has yielded an exciting result!
After pulling Crucible from their store, the folks at Amazon, specifically the gaming division, have put their heads together to figure out how to bring gaming to a broader audience. Since the company owns the Twitch streaming service, the first thing they decided to do was a full rebrand of the Twitch Prime service!
Prime Gaming is the latest creation from the company and symbolizes a full merger of Twitch Prime and Amazon. Originally, Twitch Prime featured a free subscription to Twitch along with dozens of free indie games and larger titles, like GTA, at significantly discounted prices. What Prime Gaming will offer includes all of the previous perks along with a catalog of over 20 free PC games and expanded benefits.
Another fantastic perk of the service involves not needing a Twitch account to access the service; however, fans can also get Prime Gaming through a 30-day free trial, or $12.99 a month! For those that have already made the jump into Amazon Prime, the service will also be available as apart of the other Prime services. For those who haven't, the Amazon Prime service can be purchased at a yearly rate of $119. Whether or not the company will develop more titles has yet to be seen, but we would love to hear your thoughts on Prime Gaming in the comments below!
