The swift fall of Dr Disrespect continues as YouTube announced that it has suspended monetization of videos on his channel. The announcement comes amid continued reports surrounding the reason Dr Disrespect, whose real name is Guy Beahm, was banned from Twitch in 2020.
"We have suspended DrDisrespect’s channel from the YouTube Partner Program following serious allegations against the creator," a YouTube spokesperson confirmed to IGN. "This action means the channel is no longer able to monetize on YouTube."
The spokesperson added the action taken on Beahm's channel was "for violating our Creator Responsibility policy," while noting that if a creator's off-platform behavior "harms our users, employees, or ecosystem, we may take action to protect our community, including by suspending monetization."
Last week, a former Twitch employee posted on X/Twitter that Beahm was banned from the streaming platform back in 2020 for "sexting" a minor via Twitch's Whispers feature and trying to meet with them at TwitchCon.
Beahm immediately denied the allegations but stated that he was unable to respond in detail due to the legal obligations surrounding his settlement with Twitch. He confirmed that he was probed and settled and that no wrongdoing was found. He also pointed out that Twitch had paid him what he was owed through his contract.
Reports persisted throughout the weekend and on Tuesday of this week, Beahm issued a lengthy statement addressing the allegations. Beahm admitted that he did message a minor via Twitch Whispers in 2017 and that the conversations "sometimes leaned too much in the direction of being inappropriate." He reiterated that "nothing illegal happened, no pictures were shared, no crimes were committed."
On Thursday of this week, Rolling Stone posted an article in which another Twitch employee told the outlet that Beahm knew that the minor he was messaging was underage, and continued to send them sexually explicit messages anyway.
Beahm has spent the last couple of years streaming on YouTube as his Dr Disrespect persona following his ban from Twitch in 2020. He last streamed on Monday when he revealed he would be taking an extended vacation; however, in his post on Tuesday, he confirmed he would return. With monetization suspended on YouTube now, it remains to be seen where he will stream if he does indeed return.
YouTube's decision to suspend monetization is the latest in the continuing fallout for Beahm as a result of the allegations. He's also lost several major partnerships and sponsorships from the likes of Turtle Beach, 2K, and the San Francisco 49ers. Midnight Society, the gaming studio that Beahm co-founded, also terminated its relationship with him.
