Ahead of this year's E3, Playtonic surprised fans of
Yooka-Laylee by announcing that a sequel, in the form of
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, was being developed and expected to release for consoles and PC later this year.
One of the things that fans noticed immediately as they were watching the announcement trailer, was the fact that the music sounded very similar to that of
Donkey Kong Country series Composer David Wise; more in particular his work for Retro Studios' critically acclaimed
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
It turns out that David Wise is, in fact, teaming up with Playtonic and fellow composer Grant Kirkhope(Composer for the original
Yooka-Laylee) to write the music for
Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair, and today the developer has shared a David Wise-composed track called "Mechanical Melody"; giving fans a taste of what to expect when the game releases.
