According to GameInformer, Hello Games has a Day One patch that will wipe any pre-existing save files from PS4 consoles and PCs.  Sony gave the video game magazine this official statement:

"For those users who have obtained early copies of No Man’s Sky, their save progress will not carry over to the final game after the universe has been regenerated for launch."

Sony also revealed that leaked copies floating out there in the wild are stemming from shops breaking street date, not from digital codes for reviewers.  Based on this statement, it sounds as if they're zeroing in on the source of the leaks and if its an actual retail shop, expect all sort of legal charges to be thrown about.

The embargo for reviews and streaming actually lifts today at 9 p.m PST.  No Man's Sky will be released on August 09 on PS4.  The PC version has been pushed back to Friday, August 12 via Steam to match the worldwide rollout of the game.
