Noregian developer Dejawolfs has set out to recreate the entirety of the first Castlevania, doing so with the Unreal Engine 4. They’ve released the first stage as a demo on
Itch.io for players to get a taste of what they’ve completed so far and decide whether they want to contribute to their Kickstarter campaign so that Dejawolf can recreate the entire game. On the Youtube video, the developer admits that there's stil a ton of work that needs to be done. "
Spent the weekends during the last 4 months hammering this together. Tons of bugs still, some lighting issues I haven't been able to figure out, especially with lightmass."
In additon to funding the rest of the game, Dejawolf also needs to purchase a license to avoid any legal issues that may arise. So far, Konami has not given any indication that they'll issue a cease-and-desist but it's always better to be safe than sorry. The campaign currently has $173 dollars contributed to its goal of $73,455 with 23 days to go.
