There's a small chance you're still not tired of seeing the survival genre after
DayZ, The Long Dark, Rust, The Forest, Ark: Survival Evolved, Hurtworld, and countless others. Polish developers from Creepy Jar will try to
survive this endless wave of similar titles with their debut project,
Green Hell, a sweltering struggle for survival in the Amazonian rainforest which will hit Steam Early Access in summer.
Green Hell is an open world game where "
the player is set on a journey of durability as the effects of solitude wear heavy not only on the body but also the mind." You should forget about any kind of support from the outside world, as you're only equipped with your bare hands to hopefully learn real survival techniques to build shelters, make tools, and weapons in order to hunt and defend yourself.
Creepy Jar promises "
a multitude of fauna and flora and the dangers awaiting the player," "
environment and situation impact on the player’s psychology," "
an addictive story," and constantly changing ecosystem and environment. The developers who have joined Jar had made many big budget titles before, including
Dead Island and
Dying Light, so there's hope that
Green Hell will stand out in a crowd of similar titles. Be sure to check out the reveal trailer and IGN's long gameplay down below:
You are thrown deep into the emerald and impenetrable Amazonian rain forest. The green hell. Your goal is to survive in the depths of a nightmarish environment using truly intuitive means to escape. Having only a radio at your disposal you will follow the familiar voice of a loved one through this endless and inhospitable jungle, unveiling bit by bit how you got there in the first place. What you discover will be worse than what you fought so hard against to survive.
Green Hell will enter Steam Early Access in summer.
