Studio inXile Entertainment has released the "early access" version of classic RPG
The Bard’s Tale IV. To join the ongoing beta, you have to support the game on Kickstarter, but the players who did that are already publishing long videos from
The Bard's Tale IV (now with the
Barrows Deep subtitle) and it looks like YouTube user Retcon Raider is one of them with more than 40 minutes of new gameplay.
The Bard's Tale IV offers a single player campaign, which gives you a chance to explore dark dungeons with complicated puzzles and (turn-based) combat system. InXile's game will be available on PCs with Windows, iMacs and Linux, that will appear on Steam, Humble Store and GOG (DRM-free). If you have nothing better to do for the next 45 minutes, please enjoy the dungeon crawler's long gameplay:
The Bard's Tale IV is being created on the 30th anniversary of the original Bard's Tale, and will bring back classic party-based, first-person role-playing. With Brian Fargo among its original creators, the legendary Bard's Tale series was an instant success and has become a classic. As a member of the Computer Gaming World Hall of Fame, as well as being featured in the Smithsonian's "The Art of Video Games" exhibit, The Bard's Tale series was instrumental in defining the role-playing genre.
The Bard's Tale IV: Barrows Deep has a tentative release date of 2018.
