You've probably heard about tomorrow's Nintendo Direct,
Call of Duty IIII set in a near future or a rumor that
Diablo III is coming to Switch. All these rumors and gossip has one thing in common, they were started by video game journalist Marvus Sellars. His track record is pretty impressive, so there's a chance that Sellars is right once again and Sony's PlayStation 5 is a lot closer than we thought.
Sellars announced on twitter that "PS5 dev kits went out early this year to third party developers." Developer kits are unfinished versions of consoles that are given to developers to let them know what they should expect from hardware, so they can optimize engines and prepare for a big change. One of the reasons why Watch_Dogs looked great at E3 2012 and significantly dropped in the quality later on is the fact that Ubisoft didn't know what to expect from Xbox One and PlayStation 4, so it's for the best to let the devs know what to expect as soon as possible.
Naturally, it's just a rumor, but knowing Sellars' sources, it a likely one. Does it mean that PlayStation 5 is closer than we thought and the console will launch next year with a teaser at this year's E3? I don't think its possible just yet, as Sony is working really hard on delivering great exclusives for PS4 with The Last of Us Part II and God of War. The system sells really well and Sony has no reason to kill its popularity right now. But sooner or later, PS5 will become a reality and it's great news for devs to have an opportunity to test "V".
