While big releases like The Last of Us Part II understandably received the most attention, this year's State of Play event also took the time to put the spotlight on some of the smaller upcoming games. In fact, PlayStation also surprised gamers by announcing a whole new game called Arise: A Simple Story.

This newly revealed title comes from Techland publishing and Piccolo Studios and reportedly follows a recently deceased character as he navigates the afterlife and faces numerous surreal environments.

Also, thanks to the first trailer that accompanied the announcement, we have an intriguing look at the strange creatures players will face and some of the exciting action that comes with it.

Arise: A Simple Story is currently set to be released on December 3, 2019.
