Considering that
Death Stranding was announced nearly three years ago at Sony's E3 2016 conference, we still know surprisingly little about Hideo Kojima's first major project in the post-
Metal Gear Solid V world. While it's clear that
Stranding won't be releasing anytime soon, it might be a cross-gen project.
According to Kojima himself,
Stranding has recently entered its "
critical phase of development," with Kojima Productions combing all the important elements and tools formed in its initial development into an actual game. Given that
Stranding is apparently "
crazy complicated," there's a rather big chance that the game's release date (or even window) will remain a mystery for quite some time.
While it's still hard to say what
Stranding really is, there's no denying that Kojima has managed to assemble an incredibly talented cast with Norman Reedus (
The Walking Dead), Guillermo del Toro (
The Shape of Water), Mads Mikkelsen (
Hannibal), Léa Seydoux (
Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol), and Tommie Earl Jenkins (
How to Get Away with Murder) playing major roles in the upcoming extravaganza.
Besieged by death's tide at every turn, Sam Bridges must brave a world utterly transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the stranded remnants of the future in his hands, Sam embarks on a journey to reunite the shattered world one step at a time. What is the mystery of the Death Stranding? What will Sam discover on the road ahead? A genre defining gameplay experience holds these answers and more.
Death Stranding is coming to PlayStation 4 and doesn't have an official release date yet.
