By now, pretty much every PlayStation 4 owner knows about Sucker Punch's highly anticipated Ghost of Tsushima. The game was announced very early on, and is finally becoming available in a few more weeks; giving players what seems to be the ultimate samurai video game experience.
The developers at Sucker Punch have revealed quite a bunch of details about the long-awaited title, including the fact that it is heavily inspired by the works of renowned filmmakers like Akira Kurosawa. Ghost of Tsushima will even give players the chocie to play the game in Japanese, and in black and white in order to make it look like a classic samurai movie.
Ghost of Tsushima is also drawing inspiration from the soundtracks in popular samurai/ninja movies, and this is one of the main reasons why Sucker Punch got Ninja Assassin and 47 Ronin Composer Ilan Eshkeri, as well as Japanese Composer Shigeru Umebayashi, who is more widely known for his work on critically acclaimed Cantonese movies like House of Flying Daggers and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny.
Today, Sucker Punch has announced that pre-orders for Ilan Eshkeri and Shigeru Umebayashi's Ghost of Tsushima soundtrack are currently open, as it is expected to release simultaneously with the game, which will be available on all digital platforms, and can also be purchased as a two-CD set or in vinyl format.
Sony has also shared "The Way of the Ghost" — which is the first song in the game's soundtrack, and is interpreted by Clare Uchima — for everybody to get an idea of what to expect from Ghost of Tsushima's soundtrack.
Give it a listen:
In 1274, the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the Japanese island of Tsushima and slaughters its legendary samurai defenders. Jin Sakai is one of the last survivors of a noble samurai clan. To combat his overwhelming foes, he must pioneer deadly new fighting techniques--the way of The Ghost--and wage an unconventional war for the people of Japan.
Ghost of Tsushima is expected to release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on Friday the 17th of July.
