Ape Escape was a party platformer game that released back in 1999. Published by Sony Interactive Entertainment and SIE Japan Studio, there hasn't been a new instalment in the franchise since 2010 — and even then, that wasn't a mainline entry.

Last year, the franchise's official Twitter account seemed to tease that a new Ape Escape game is on the way — be it a remake or sequel. Along with a vague and teasing statement — which you can check out here — there was a mysterious image of one of the titular apes peeking around a tree (see below).

To kick off the new year and decade, this account reared its head once again. This time around, they were more overt with their tweet. Roughly translated into English, the tweet went as follows: "Happy New Year. This year also, exciting, wonderful! To send lots of important information!"

As you can see, it seems that we should expect some announcements this year. Below you can check out the tweet in question — which features a nice bit of official artwork in which the titular apes are strewn about "2020."
