God of War(2018) is the fourth entry in the hack and slash action
God of War series, developed by Santa Monica Studio and Sony Entertainment Interactive, that was released on the 20th of April last year.
Upon the game's release,
God of War was received with an overwhelming amount of positive reviews, scoring a fantastic
94 on Metacritic that made Cory Barlog, the game's director, very emotional; a score, mind you, that hasn't changed since.
As if that wasn't enough, Santa Monica Studio's
God of War was not only nominated for Game of the Year for last year's The Game Awards, but it also took the award home, and has been getting Game of the Year awards left and right; including
Game of the Year by the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
Needless to say,
God of War has had one amazing year, and today Santa Monica Studio has released a heartfelt video of the developers thanking fans for their unconditional support throughout this entire journey.
Take a look:
His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat; breathtaking scale; and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.
God of War is currently available for the PlayStation 4.
