What an amazing first year has had Santa Monica Studio since they released the fantastic new God of War, getting praised for their work on the game; which even led God of War to win last year's "Game of the Year" at The Game Awards 2018.

It seems that Santa Monica Studio may have yet another award on their hands as God of War has recently been nominated in quite the bunch of categories for this year's DICE Awards, including Game of the Year — which is very likely to win again.

The categories God of War has been nominated in are Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Animation, Outstanding Achievement in Art Direction, two nominations in Outstanding Achievement for Kratos and Atreus, Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, Outstanding Achievement in Sound Design, Outstanding Achievement in Story, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Adventure Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Design, and Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction.

God of War not only reinvented the series, that had grown a tad stale over the years, but they also managed to make Kratos an even more interesting and relatable character; something that people didn't really think would be possible prior to the last game's release. So the game getting as many nominations as it did is something more than justified, as well as well-deserved.

His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat; breathtaking scale; and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.

God of War is currently available for the PlayStation 4.
