While Xbox has Forza, PlayStation has Gran Turismo. There hasn't been a new Gran Turismo game since 2017 — that being Gran Turismo Sport. Therefore, it's about time for a new one.

Earlier this week, the PlayStation 5 reveal event was set to take place. However, the event was postponed indefinitely on account of the #BlackLivesMatter protests — as Sony didn't want to detract attention from the more important message. Since then, a new date for the PlayStation 5 event was announced — that being June 11th. But that's beside the point.

The point is that the event was originally set to take place on June 3rd/June 4th (depending on your timezone). Well, Sony Interactive Entertainment recently filed to renew its trademarks of the Gran Turismo name and logo as well as Polyphony Digital (the developer of the racing series). When did they renew the trademarks? Well, on June 3rd/4th, of course (via ResetEra).

This has led many to believe that a new Gran Turismo game would have been revealed during the PlayStation 5 event and, of course, that a new Gran Turismo game will still be revealed during the PlayStation 5 event — just this time on June 11th. The next installment will presumably be Gran Turismo 7, but there's also a chance that it could simply be called: Gran Turismo.
