There was absolutely no doubt that Square Enix's highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake would be a complete hit when it finally released, as a PlayStation 4 timed exclusive, in April of this year — especially after those 5 long years of waiting since it was initially announced.
Square Enix officially announced, a week after the game had released worldwide, that Final Fantasy VII Remake had managed to ship over an impressive 3.5 million copies in a mere three days after it released. On top of that, the game had already been revealed to have surpassed Capcom's Resident Evil 3 in the UK Charts.
According to NPD Group analyst Mat Piscatella, Square Enix's critically acclaimed Final Fantasy VII Remake keeps breaking sales records, as it has been revealed that the remake of the popular RPG title has become April's best-selling game in North America.
Final Fantasy VII Remake has also set a new launch month sales record for the Final Fantasy series in unit and dollar sales; with the previous record holder being 2016's Final Fantasy XV. Furthermore, Piscatella also reveals that Final Fantasy VII Remake is now the PlayStation 4's best-selling title of 2020, which is quite the impressive feat.
Since the game is only a timed exclusive PlayStation 4 title, it is expected to see Final Fantasy VII Remake getting a second wind next year — when the critically acclaimed title becomes available on PC.
