The Coronavirus outbreak has already caused some video game-related events and release to be either be pushed back or flat out cancelled. Thankfully, this will not be the case with the long-awaited, and highly anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake.
As Square Enix has just revealed via a message on their official Twitter account for Final Fantasy VII Remake, the game will still be meeting its 10th of April release date, but chances are that some players may not be able to get their physical copy on the day of release; pointing out that this will likely be affected by "unforseeable changes in the distribution and retail landscape."
The developer reassures customers that they are constantly evaluating the situation in order to guarantee that as many players as possible get their copy of Final Fantasy VII Remake on the day of release; revealing that an update with more information on the matter will be shared this Friday the 20th of March.
Square Enix has made the right decision here, since it is best to avoid any situations that could lead to an unnecessary risk in spreading the virus even further. As the developer said, it is still great to know that the game will not be pushed back, and those who are planning to purchase the game digitally are still guaranteed to play it on launch day.
