At the moment,
Resident Evil 3 is the gaming industry's worst kept secret. Earlier this week, what were almost certainly official images surfaced online and all but confirmed that a remake of the classic game was on the way — in the same vein as the recent
Resident Evil 2 remake.
While many believed that the game would be officially announced during The Game Awards 2019, a reputable industry insider teased that it will be revealed even sooner than that —
more on that here. However, with no events planned at the time of that tease, fans could only speculate that Sony would soon announce a new State of Play livestream. And, wouldn't you know it? They just did.
The final State of Play livestream of 2019 will be taking place on December 10th at 6am (Pacific Time) and Sony has confirmed that new game will be revealed along with release date announcements and the like —
find out more on that here.
As if that wasn't confirmation enough that
Resident Evil 3 will appear during the State of Play livestream; the host of The Game Awards, Geoff Keighley, recently confirmed that the horror remake would be absent from the upcoming, annual event. During
a recent Reddit Q&A, Keighley explained that
"there are no plans (never were) to do anything with Resident Evil 3 at the show."
