Ryū ga Gotoku and Sega have announced the new entry in the
Yakuza series, which is now officially called
Yakuza: Like a Dragon; a new story that will see Ichiban Kasuga becoming the new protagonist in the series.
The developer has also announced the official release date for the game in Japan, and players will be able to get their hands on this new
Yakuza title on the
16th of January in 2020. While the release date for the Western version of
Yakuza: Like a Dragon hasn't been revealed yet, the developer assures that it will also be at some point in 2020.
One of the things that
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be doing differently, in comparison to previous titles of the series, is that combat will now be turn-based instead of the more action-based approach the series is known for; something that will definitely be interesting to see.
Thanks to the people over at Gematsu, we have a translation that gives us a good idea of what the new combat system will be like in
Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
"Live command RPG battles" bring the fight of the "Dragon" to a new stage!
Yakuza 7 uses a “live command RPG battle” system that combines the series’ signature action with an RPG command system. It has evolved into a system in which anyone can easily enjoy exhilarating battles. In this completely new battle system, Ichiban Kasuga and his party will fight by selecting techniques with various effects such as attack, recovery, support, and more. Enjoy immersive and dynamic battles against all sorts of enemies.
With the official
Yakuza: Like a Dragon announcement, Ryū ga Gotoku also released a story trailer(although, for now, it is completely in Japanese) and some high definition in-game screenshots.
