We have some great news for fans of Sega and Ryū ga Gotoku's
Yakuza series, as it has been confirmed that
Yakuza: Like a Dragon — the latest entry in the critically acclaimed series — will be getting a playable demo; as revealed by producer Masayoshi Yokoyama in the latest issue of
Famitsu.
One of the things that will set
Yakuza: Like a Dragon apart from other titles in the series is the fact that the developers have decided to go with a combat system that is more akin to those seen in role-playing games, so having a playable demo of the game will help give players a better idea of what the combat is like.
Yokoyama did not, however, give us an official release date for the demo. In fact, Sega still hasn't confirmed an official release date for the West, but we do know that
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will release for the PlayStation 4 on the 16th of January in 2020 in Japan; hopefully localisation won't take too long.
Chances are that
Yakuza: Like a Dragon will release in the West, at the very least, a couple of months after its official launch in Japan.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon introduces a new main protagonist for the first time since the series’ inception over a decade ago — Ichiban Kasuga, a low-level yakuza member looking to prove his self-worth, and follows him and his motley crew of unlikely allies as they attempt to rise from rags to riches in this modern human drama.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon is expected to release for the PlayaStation 4 in 2020.
