The Inability to change your PSN game has been a huge foil to many gamers. It's one of the most often asked questions for Sony and there has been disappointment that this isssue has yet to be addressed, despite numerous updates for PS4. Shawn Layden offered a glimmer of hope at PSX and seems to suggest that the team are working on it behind the scenes to fix the problem within the year.

There have been a few vague explanations from Sony over the years about why you cannot change your PSN Name, ranging from trolling prevention to whether it would even be possible at all. In an interview with Kinda Funny's Greg Miller at PSX, Shawn Layden reiterated that the process is "More complex than you think"  but on a more positive note Layden went on to say that he hopes that players will be able to change their PSN names in 2018 "I hope we see events occur that you won't have to ask me that question next PSX"

Microsoft have given players the ability to change their names free of charge, while additional changes incur a fee. It's something that is important to players so hopefully Sony will be able to make a lot of progress on this front over the year.

What do you think? Will we finally be able to change our PSN names in 2018, or is it wishful thinking?
