Netflix's live-action
The Witcher series will supposedly be debuting at some point within the remainder of the year. However, we're yet to hear anything about an official release date. The upcoming series is based on the best-selling fantasy books by Andrzej Sapkowski — which were popularised when CD Projekt Red developed adaptations of them in the form of video games.
Henry Cavill (
Justice League) will star as Geralt of Rivia, Anya Chalotra (
Wanderlust) plays Yennefer, and Freya Allan (
Into the Badlands) plays Ciri. Lauren Hissrich serves as the showrunner of
The Witcher —
she recently revealed exactly how brutally violent the upcoming show will be.
Netflix has released some high-resolution stills from
The Witcher (via
ComicBookMovie.com) which show off the aforementioned cast at work — predominantly Cavill as the titular character — as well as some photos from behind-the-scenes.
