Square Enix has got some great news for fans of The World Ends With You, as they have officially announced that an anime adaptation of the popular role-playing video game is currently in the works.
Fans of the series will remember that this was teased in May of this year, when a new artwork for The World Ends With You was shared by the official Anime Expo Twitter account, although details about what this new illustration was were not revealed until today.
Details about this brand-new The World Ends With You anime series, known as Subarashi Kono Sekai The Animation in Japan, will be fully revealed during this year's Anime Expo Lite, which is expected to take place on Friday the 3rd of July at 6:00 PM PDT through Saturday the 4th of July at 10:00 AM JST.
The World Ends With You was originally released for the Nintendo DS all the way back in 2007, and was recently re-released for the Nintendo Switch — in October of 2018, to be more precise — in the form of a "Final Remix" edition that gave players the definitive version of th classic RPG.
While some will be slightly disappointed to find out that the new artwork wasn't from a new The World Ends With You video game, this is stil lgreat news for fans. Maybe this new anime will open the door for a future video game; if not, fans will still have the anime to enjoy.
