Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is a month's time away from release. Recently, it's beta came to an end, the second half of which was dedicated to testing out the game's cross-play feature.

For the first time in the history of the long-running first-person shooter series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players can coexist and compete against each other. What's more, they can apparently also transfer their statistics and progression across platforms (via Gamespot).

Cross-progression is often a supplementary to cross-play but the two features aren't inherently tied together and have been made use of independently from each other in various games — such as Rocket League which allows for competition between players of different platforms but doesn't allow you to transfer your level, items, or statistics to another platform.

On that note, cross-progression hasn't be explicitly confirmed by Activision or Infinity Ward. It has only been reported by multiple players who pariticpated in the aforementioned beta and it's apparently all got to do with linking your PlayStation, Xbox, and PC accounts up to your official Call of Duty account.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on October 25th, 2019.
