Rockstar Games hasn't officially announced Grand Theft Auto 6, but given the success of 2013's GTA 5 and its online multiplayer component, GTA Online, it's only a matter of time until a follow-up gets revealed. But despite the lack of any formal announcements, that hasn't stopped the rumor mill from churning out potential details.
The latest comes from Twitter's Tom Henderson, who proclaimed this week that GTA 6 will have a playable female and male protagonist. If true, this would be huge as the series has never featured a main playable female character.
Again, this is only a rumor as Rockstar hasn't even announced GTA 6, but Henderson has proven to be a reliable source of information in the past. He's been correct on numerous Call of Duty leaks previously, so a lot of people are on board with this leak.
Plus, a playable female lead character is something the Grand Theft Auto community has been wanting for quite a while now. GTA 5 has three playable main protagonists but all three were male. Introducing the series first female lead could open up some interesting story elements, and we all know how well Rockstar is for developing characters and personalities.
It's unclear when or if Rockstar has any plans to reveal GTA 6 this year. The studio is still experiencing massive financial success from the ongoing multiplayer world in GTA Online, so it would come as no surprise if parent company Take-Two wants to continue milking that for a while.
