It Looks Like SEGA Will Release A Remastered Version Of The Dreamcast's SHENMUE

With the third instalment on its way to the PlayStation 4 and PC, it appears as if SEGA is now planning to release a remastered version of the first two Shenmue games at some point later this year...

It appears as if an HD remaster of the original Shenmue is on the way from SEGA as the company has registered a domain for "Shenmue HD" back in September. It's only now that this has been spotted, though, and it was actually listed under "Shenmuehd.com," a sign perhaps that they're planning to release a remastered version of the game. After all, it's hard to think what else this could be for!

Interestingly, SEGA also registered two more domains last year, including "ShenmueRemastered.com" and the incorrectly spelt "Shemnuegame.com." If that's not a pretty clear sign that they're planning on revisiting the original game (which was released on the Dreamcast), then what on Earth is?

Bear in mind that Shenmue III is currently in development for the PS4 and PC, so an HD remaster - which there have been rumblings about in the past - which actually introduces the first two instalments to new (and returning) players seems highly likely. We'll just have to wait and see, but hopefully, some official details will be revealed soon. As always, be sure to stay tuned to Game Fragger for updates.
