Yakuza: Like a Dragon, the seventh entry in the critically acclaimed Yakuza series, has dared to do quite a number of things for the first time. It is the first game to feature a brand-new protagonist, and it is also the first game to stray from the action-adventure formula and focusing on RPG elements instead.
While the game still features all of the elements that have made the Yakuza series a household name, Yakuza: Like a Dragon has changed things up a bit by introducing turn-based combat, but keeping things as exciting as any other game in the series.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon has been available in Japan since march of this year, and reviews have been overwhelmingly positive, so those worrying that the newly introduced RPG elements will affect their enjoyment of the game can rest assured that this will not be the case.
For the first time ever, a Yakuza game is being released on an Xbox console first. Well, at least here in the West, as the Xbox Series X|S version of Yakuza: Like a Dragon has just become available today for Microsoft's next-gen consoles, and will launch for other platforms this Friday.
On this very same note, Sega confirmed that they haven't officially announced Yakuza: Like a Dragon for the Xbox Series X|S in Japan, so that's somewhat disappointing for Japanese players who haven't yet played the game on PlayStation 4, and will be purchasing Microsoft's new Xbox.
Those who want to play Yakuza: Like a Dragon on PlayStation 5 wil have to wait until March of next year, though. The good news is that the PlayStation 4 version if the game can be played on the disc version of Sony's next-gen console.
Now that Yakuza: Like a Dragon has officially released here in the West, Sega and Ryū ga Gotoku have released a new, and wacky trailer that shows off just how much fun this new entry in the Yakuza series is; a real treat for long-time fans.
