The SPLINTER CELL Series Will Return "One Day", Says Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot
Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently confirmed that, though they have nothing to announce at the moment, we will see the stealthy Splinter Cell game series make a comeback eventually. Find out more...
It has been over five years since the release of the Splinter Cell: Blacklist and though many believed that a new Splinter Cell game was in-development at Ubisoft, and would possibly be revealed at E3 2018, the event passed without a mention of Sam Fisher or his sneaky hijinks.
However, all is not lost, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently mentioned the iconic series' future during an interview with Gamespot. Guillemot reaffirmed that, while they have nothing to announce at the moment, the game series will return eventually.
The CEO was asked, as Konami has essentially collapsed the Metal Gear Solid series, whether Ubisoft plan on filling the stealth-oriented hole in the market - here's what Guillemot had to say: "So I will disappoint you because I don't have an answer to give you exactly, but each brand we have, and each character, we want them to live in the long-term, so one day you will see something, but I can't give you more details."
This doesn't necessarily mean that there isn't a new Splinter Cell title in-development at the moment - and Guillemot is playing Sam Fisher and trying to keep it covert - but it does mean that fans of the franchise will just have to wait even longer. Perhaps Ubisoft will have something to tease at E3 2019.
What do you think of Guillmot's comment? Would you like to see the Splinter Cell series make a comeback?
