Next week marks the beginning of the end for Clementine's journey in Telltale's The Walking Dead. The release of the first episode, now officially titled Done Running, will officially kick off The Walking Dead: The Final Season, fourth and final season in Telltale's narrative adventure series. Ahead of its release on August 14, Telltale has debuted the official trailer for The Final Season, giving us the best look yet at the upcoming season.

In addition to showcasing the new and improved visuals and gameplay mechanics, the trailer highlights some of hte new characters you'll meet in The Final Season. As you'll see in the trailer below, Clementine and AJ arrive at a secluded school that serves as a home to a group of teenage and children survivors. As one would expect in a series based on The Walking Dead though, things will ultimately take a turn for the dark and Telltale teases an "emotional and gut-wrenching" story. The developer even mentions "sacrifice," perhaps foreshadowing a fate for Clementine that may mirror what fans experience in Season One with Lee.

Clementine, now a fierce and capable survivor, has reached the final chapter in her journey. After years on the road facing threats both living and dead, a secluded school might finally be her chance for a home. But protecting it will mean sacrifice. Clem must build a life and become a leader while still watching over AJ, an orphaned boy and the closest thing to family she has left. In this gripping, emotional final season, you will define your relationships, fight the undead, and determine how Clementine's story ends.

The Walking Dead: The Final Season debuts next week on August 14 with the release of Episode One: Done Running. The first episode will be available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One in all regions. In a surprise announcement, Telltale also announced the episode will launch digital on Nintendo Switch on August 14 in North America and later this month in Europe and other regions. The Final Season is currently available for pre-order for $19.99 and those who do so on PS4 or Xbox One will get a free copy of The Telltale Series Collection, which bundles all 19 previously released episodes in the series.
