STAR WARS JEDI: FALLEN ORDER - Respawn Reveals Why Players Won't Be Able To Dismember Enemies

Aaron Contreras — Narrative Lead at Respawn Entertainment — has recently revealed that players won't be able to dismember Stormtroopers in the soon-to-be-released Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

It seems that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will not allow players to dismember enemies with their lightsabers — or, rather, not always — as Narrative Lead at Respawn Entertainment Aaron Contreras has recently revealed.

Fans of the Star Wars series know that the movies have a history of loss of limbs — as grim as it may sound — to the point it has almost become a staple to the series in the same way that lightsabers and space dogfights are, but these dismemberments are rather selective in the movies and, according to Contreras, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will be no different.

"So, with Jedi: Fallen Order we’ve really followed the authentic Star Wars / Lucasfilm realization of dismemberment. Which is that it happens in big story moments occasionally, but you don’t see it happening constantly to sentient people," revealed Aaron Contreras in a recent interview.

Much like in the movies, however, droids and other alien creatures will be "dismembered on a frequent basis, but otherwise we save it for big moments," then adds Contreras.

"We’ve really worked throughout the entire development process with Lucasfilm. And this is a Star Wars thing, this is how Star Wars treats dismemberment and the lightsaber. So we’re trying to stay true to the Lucasfilm vision of what the lightsaber is and how it should be used."

The people over at Respawn Entertainment have really wanted to do Star Wars justice with the highly anticipated Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, and the fact that they are even focusing on such little details as lightsaber dismemberments is a good sign for fans of the iconic series.

Cal Kestis—one of the last surviving members of the Jedi Order after the purge of Order 66—is now a Padawan on the run. Experience this all-new single-player Star Wars story from Respawn Entertainment and EA Star Wars on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this holiday season.
