Developer SNK has fully committed to supporting the latest Samurai Shodown, and they have been releasing new characters pretty much since the game launched in June of last year. Some of the content that was added post-launch has been free, and players can't thank the developers enough for that.
Last year, the developers added a total of five new characters as part of Samurai Shodown's first DLC, and one of those characters was actually added completely free of charge. All five of those characters were released on a monthly basis, and the final fighter was added in December.
In January, SNK announced that four new characters would be added this year; revealing that Mina Majikina, Sogetsu Kazama, and Iroha would join the game's roster, followed by a fourth mysterious character that they have yet to unveil.
Today, however, the developer has revealed that Gong Sun Li from the MOBA series Honor of Kings will be added to Samurai Shodown early in August — on Wednesday the 5th, to be more precise — and that this new fighter will also be added via a free update.
SNK already revealed that the mysterious fourth character part of the game's Season Pass 2 is Warden from the For Honor series, so thisnew character from the Honor of Kings being announced just now is definitely a pleasant surprise for fans of the Samurai Shodown series.
With the announcement, SNK released an action-packed trailer that introduces players to Honor of Kings' Gong Sun Li, who will be embracing death next Wednesday, so don't forget to watch the trailer below, and let us know what you think in the comments section.
