Treyarch has announced that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's next limited-time game mode for Blackout will, indeed, be Ambush. The new mode was previously outed by the Call of Duty Companion App, but Treyarch took to Reddit to officially confirm it.

The new mode will become available once the Down But Not Out mode is out of the rotation. "We’re planning to launch Ambush into the wild immediately afterward, so enjoy the insanity of DBNO while it’s live and let us know what you think of the redeploy system while we put the finishing touches on what’s to come," Treyarch said.

According to the description in the app, Ambush will feature only Sniper Rifles and melees, making Skulker and Dead Silence "more valuable." The description also says the Outlander perk will be useful since "once the circle starts collapsing, it never stops."

Treyarch didn't give an exact date for when Ambush will become available but did say it will come after the Down But Not Out game mode concludes. The limited-time mode is currently live on PlayStation 4 and will be available until January 30. It's expected to arrive on Xbox One and PC on January 23, though it's unclear if it will also end on January 30 for these platforms.

As a reminder, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4's Blackout is hosting a free trial on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, giving everyone a chance to jump into the battle royale mode and test it out until January 24.
