Leaker Reveals The Real Reason Why CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 2 REMASTERED Doesn't Include Multiplayer

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered released (for the PlayStation 4) earlier this month and noticeably didn't include multiplayer. Why is that? Well, here's what a reputable insider has heard.

At the very end of March, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered was announced and at the very beginning of April it was officially released — for the PlayStation 4 at least. Those on Xbox One and PC unfortunately have to wait until April 30th to get their hands on the classic.

What was most surprising about the announcement and release was that the multiplayer aspect of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 didn't get the remaster treatment. That was arguably the most popular part of the original game but Activision seemingly just decided against including it.

More recently, the publisher has come out and provided their reasoning for not remastering Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer — that being that they didn't want it to cause a schism in the community. However, according to this reputable insider, that isn't actually the case.

The Gaming Revolution claims that the multiplayer was indeed in development and basically finished. However, Activision are against releasing it because they don't think the community will be very fond of it. Why is that? Well, apparently the multiplayer was changed so much during the developmental process that it's a far cry from its former self.

"I have heard some recent information,” the reputable leaker began. “That apparently a reason as to why it hasn’t released yet is because the game is apparently very different to the original Modern Warfare 2 and they’ve changed a lot of things, and they don’t think the community will like it."

This is somewhat believeable as, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer was quite a fan-favourite, it wasn't ever quite as balanced and polished as Infinity Ward likely would have wanted. The studio likely tried to iron out the bugs and balance things out but, in doing so, removed what made Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer itself.

Will the remastered multiplayer ever see the light of day? "They don’t know if they’re ever going to release it. I have heard that they are still testing it out so I’m assuming they are still changing things. I feel like it is still going to be coming out at some point, I just really do not know when. It really wouldn’t surprise me if it’s not until a year from now."

Of course, it's worth remembering that none of this is confirmed nor official information. Rather just rumours from the mouth of a source who has proven themselves reputable in the past.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Campaign Remastered is out now on PlayStation 4 and comes to Xbox One and PC on April 30th.
