Finally, a new
Medal of Honor game has been announced —
find out more here. There hasn't been a new instlament in the first-person shooter franchise since
Medal of Honor: Warfighter released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in 2012. Unlike its predecessors,
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond will be a virtual reality game for the Oculus Rift platform.
Set during the Second World War; as an Allied agent of the Office of Strategic Services, players will be tasked with infiltrating, outgunning, and outsmarting the Nazi war machine. Your journey across Europe will see you join forces with the French Resistance and work to sabotage the Nazi effort from behind enemy lines.
In a recent interview with
LAD Bible, the game's director revealed that
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond wasn't always a virtual reality game — and was most likely meant to be a traditional first-person shooter.
“It was one of those things that ‘God wouldn’t be great to bring back Medal of Honor.' Take everything we’ve learned over the last 20 years, all the modern tools, and do a new Medal of Honor game," Peter Hirschmann began. The game director then revealed that, as Respawn was
“conceptualizing the narrative, the structure, and all that," they were approached by Facebook.
Respawn showed their plans for
Medal of Honor: Above and Beyond to Oculus and they were so enthusiastic about it that they apparently bought it right then and there.
“They bought it in the room,” Hirschmann says.
“They say ‘Yeah, you just described what we want to do’. And we’re like ‘Oh, my God, this is great’.”
