After the Summer Games introduced Lúcioball, Halloween Terror imported zombies and Winter Wonderland brought snowball fights, what will the Year of the Rooster bring?

The next big event for Overwatch will kick off on January 24, in celebration of the Chinese New Year - with 2017 being the Year of the Rooster.   Other than the short teaser video below, details are scarce.  However, if going by previous events is any indication, gamers can expect a host of timed  sprays, player icons, voice lines, maps, skins and themed gameplay to be released.

  • Summer Games - August 2, 2016, to August 22, 201 [in celebration of the Summer Olympics]
  • Overwatch Halloween Terror  - October 11, 2016 to November 1, 2016 [in celebration of Halloween]
  • Overwatch Winter Wonderland  -  December 13, 2016 to January 2, 2017 [in celebration of Christmas]
For the Summer Games, a special Rocket League-esque event called  Lúcioball was rolled out.  Halloween Terror introudced zombies and Winter Wonderland had PvP snowball fights.  Expect more details to be announced in the coming weeks.
