Developer Aspyr has been doing a great job with Star Wars vieo game ports lately. The first port they released was the critically acclaimed Star Wars: Kedi Knight II - Jedi Outcast, and it was later followed by its also critically acclaimed sequel Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy.
What was one of the most interesting announcements that Aspyr made — on the same day that Star Wars: Jedi Knight - Jedi Academy was released, no less — was that they were also bringing back the Nintendo 64 fan-favourite Star Wars: Episode I Racer; a game that has managed to outmatch the popularity of the very movie it stems from.
Unfortunately, Aspyr delayed the release of Star Wars: Episode I Racer a day after it was supposed to become available, and fans were disappointed mainly because the developer pushed back the game without a notice. Last week, however, they finally revealed that the game would be launching on Tuesday the 23rd of June.
Today is finally the day, as Star Wars: Episode I Racer has finally become available for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch; bringing with it those fast-paced races that made the game so popular in the late 90s.
While the game is a faithful port of the original, it seems that Star Wars: Episode I Racer will be enjoyed best on the Nintendo Switch, as motion controls allow players to control each of the podracer's engines with the Joy-Con controllers for an even more immersive experience. Now, this is podracing!

The fan favorite racer is back featuring motion controls! Take control of a podracer speeding through flaming methane lakes, Tusken Raider assaults, anti-gravity tunnels, and much more in a pulse-pounding, do-or-die fight to the finish line.
Star Wars: Episode I Racer is available for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch today.
