Oninaki is an upcoming role-playing game developed by Tokyo RPG Factory and published by Square Enix, coming out for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch in summer of this year.
Tokyo RPG Factory has already developed other role-playing titles like
Lost Sphear and
I Am Setsuna, which — truth be told — haven't had the best reception by fans of the genre, although they are far from being bad games.
Square Enix has developed and published some of the best RPG titles ever made, such as
Chrono Trigger,
Final Fantasy VII, and the
Dragon Quest series — to name only but a few, and fans will be pleased to know that
Chrono Trigger Director Takashi Tokita is involved in
Oninaki.
Takashi Tokita will not be directing
Oninaki, however, as he will only be working as the game's Creative Producer. Perhaps he will be able to bring some of the elements that made
Chrono Trigger such a fantastic game, so fans of the genre will definitely appreciate his involvment in Tokyo RPG Factory's new project.
ONINAKI tells the story of one Watcher on a journey to protect Life, after Death. Players will uncover the mysteries of life, death and what’s beyond as protagonist, Kagachi moving between the Living World and the realm of the dead known as the Beyond.
Oninaki will be available for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and Steam in summer of 2019.
