Publisher Koei Tecmo has recently announced that the original
Nioh has sold over 2.5 million copies worldwide since its acclaimed debut in February 2017. The title launched on PlayStation 4 first, and was ported to PC in November that same year. Unfortunately, over two years after its original release, Xbox One owners are still patiently waiting for their turn to check the best-reviewed video game out.
According to Tecmo,
Nioh's Xbox One port is a possibility, but the publisher will release the game's XO version only if the fandom shows that they want it. Considering that Microsoft's console needs more high-profile Japanese titles to enhance its appeal,
Nioh (and recently released
NieR: Automata) would definitely attract more interest, especially in Japan where Xbox has been struggling to find its audience.
Nioh is an action-RPG video game created by Team Ninja, the creators of the
Dead or Alive and
Ninja Gaiden series. The title initially launched two years ago to raving reviews, bringing an unfinished Akira Kurosawa script to life. The acclaimed game is set in 1600, telling the story of William, a blonde-haired Irishman who arrives in Japan to pursuit his old enemy. Team Ninja is also currently working on
Nioh 2.
Experience the newest brutal action game from Team NINJA and Koei Tecmo Games. In the age of samurai, a lone traveler lands on the shores of Japan. He must fight his way through the vicious warriors and supernatural Yokai that infest the land in order to find that which he seeks.
Nioh is available for PC and PlayStation 4 NOW!
