Rumours about a brand-new entry in the fan-favourite Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series have been doing the rounds for quite a while now, but lately these rumours have begun to gain some traction — to the point that the game is seemingly all but confirmed.
It all started last year when professional skateboarder Lizzie Armanto revealed, in an interview with The Nine Club, that a new Tony Hakw's Pro Skater game was currently in the works, and that she was going to be in it. This could've been either a mobile game or a flat out console title, but she didn't really specify.
In March of this year, Australian rock band The Death Set also seemingly confirmed that a new entry in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was being developed, and that they would be featuring some of their music in it. Again, adding even more fuel to the rumour sparked by Armanto the year before.
In a now deleted tweet, The Gaming Revolution — a refutable source that has accurately leaked information about the Call of Duty series in the past — claimed that a remaster of the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater was in development. This is more of a stretch, but information could've been wrong and the source probably meant remake or reimagining of the series.
Now, new information has seemingly confirmed that, for the umpteenth time, that a brand-new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater is not only in development, but will be releasing at some point later this year. This information also comes from The Nine Club, where professional skateboarder Jason Dill pretty much spilled the beans.
Of course, these are all but rumours until we get an official announcement. It does seem very plausible that Activision is currently working on either a remaster of the original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, or a brand-new game.
At this point, whatever it is that the developers are working on getting, a new Tony Hawk's Pro Skater releasing this year is all but confirmed. Fingers crossed.
