It has been rumored, in the past few weeks, that
Nintendo would be introducing two revised versions of their handheld hybrid console: the Nintendo Switch. Although this information seemed to have come from reliable sources, none of this was confirmed by Nintendo; at least until now, that is.
"
As a general rule, we’re always working on new hardware and we will announce it when we are able to sell it," revealed Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa to the Japanese press in Osaka. "
But we have no plans to announce that at this year’s E3 in June."
The rumor claimed that
Nintendo would be unveiling the revised Nintendo Switch models at some point in June of this year, but now that this has been debunked by the President himself, we can only hope they make that inevitable reveal at some point this year.
Recently, the company has announced that the
Nintendo Switch has sold over 34 million units worldwide since its release in March of 2017,
out-selling the Nintendo 64's lifetime sales of 32 million; proving that the Nintendo Switch is on the right track to becoming one of the company's best-selling consoles.
It is also worth mentioning that Nintendo doesn't necessarily makes announcements when they are expected to, and their Nintendo Direct presentations have become the most effective way of announcing their plans to the audiences. So we should keep our eyes peeled for that inevitable announcement.
