We may have some upsetting news for those who have either purchased a
Nintendo Switch Lite, or are planning to purchase one in the near future — as it seems that the recently released console is still prone to get the infamous "Joy-Con drift" issue.
The people over at YouTube channel SpawnWave have recently taken apart the brand-new
Nintendo Switch Lite; revealing that Nintendo is still using the exact same analog stick that's been reported to eventually get what is called the Joy-Con drift.
For those who may not be familiar with the issue, the Joy-Con drift happens when the analog sticks detects movement even when it isn't being manipulated; causing the in-game characters to start drifting without the player actually controlling their movement.
Joy-Con drift has been reported to happen on both Joy-Con controllers, but in most cases the problem is only associated to the left Joy-Con. With all of this said, Nintendo has addressed this issue in the past; promising to fix any drifting issues completely free of charge.
What makes this even more aggravating is the fact that Joy-Con controllers can be replaced, but the Nintendo Switch is a single unit; meaning that, if players get any analog stick drifting, they will have to send in the whole console and not just the faulty piece of hardware.
The
Nintendo Switch Lite was only released yesterday, so there still aren't any reports about the console getting the infamous Joy-Con drift. After Spawnwave's analysis, it seems that we'll just have to keep waiting to see if the
Nintendo Switch Lite still has the problem or not. As of yet, Nintendo is still using the exact same pieces found in the regular Joy-Con controllers.
A new addition to the Nintendo Switch family will arrive on 9/20. Nintendo Switch Lite is compact and lightweight, making it easy to take on the go! This dedicated handheld device lets you play all Nintendo Switch games that support handheld mode. It will be available in three different colors.
Nintendo Switch Lite is currently available.
