MEGA MAN ZERO/ZX LEGACY COLLECTION Producer Reveals That Delaying The Game Was "A Difficult Decision"

In November of last year, Capcom announced that Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection was sadly not going to be meeting its initial launch date — which would've seen the game releasing in January of this year — and that it was going to be delayed until the 25th of February.

While the delay only meant that fans would have to wait for a bit under a month for the game to release, it was still some slightly disappointed news. Unsurprisingly, fans reacted very positively to the announcement, showing support for Capcom's decision.

The announcement was made via a video, which is something that Capcom Japan isn't used to doing, as revealed by Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection Producer Kazuhiro Tsuchiya in a recent interview with Siliconera.

According to Tsuchiya, he was worried that "fans would be disappointed by or make harsh comments about the news of the delay. However, the Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection team is deeply grateful for the warm words of support we received in response to the announcement."

"Postponing the game’s release was a difficult decision to make, but we decided to do so to ensure that we could release the most satisfying game possible," Tsuchiya revealed while stating that fans were really supportinve and that their "kind messages are truly heartwarming."

"Regarding the YouTube video announcement, this was a request from the Mega Man team at Capcom USA. We don’t typically take this kind of approach in Japan, so we were a bit skeptical about the idea. However, it seems our sentiments reached the Mega Man community through this video, and we’re glad that we agreed to create it. For this reason, we would also like to express our appreciation to the Mega Man team at Capcom USA for their suggestion," explained the producer.

It is true that delays are oftentimes disappointing, but every single time necessary — which is the very same reason why it is nice to see fans being supportive and completely understanding; after all, it is them who want a top quality product, and delays ensure that a quality product is what consumers will get.
