Perfect Dark was a first-person shooter game that originally released for the Nintendo 64, and was a game that borrowed a bunch of elements from the iconic Goldeneye 007 that also released for Nitnendo's 64-bit console — which makes sense, considering that both hgames were developed by Rare.
The first game in the Perfect Dark series was released in the year 2000, while the latest entry released in 2010 in the form of a remaster for the Xbox 360 — now that Microsoft owns Rare — although the last proper sequel to the original game was Perfect Dark Zero, which was released in 2005 for the original Xbox.
Unfortunately for the fans, neither Microsoft nor Rare have shown any real interesting bringing the series back from the grave, although recent rumours have given Perfect Dark fans a glimmer of hope.
According to information revealed by video game journalist Jeff Grub — during a recent podcast that was livestreamed yesterday, and as spotted by the Xbox News subreddit — Perfect Dark is making a comeback, and it is actually being developed by Xbox's brand-new studio.
Grubb took to Twitter to reveal that he didn't really confirm the existence of a new Perfect Dark game, though, but he has some information about this unnamed project, and it all points to being a new entry in Rare's classic first-person shooter series.
This information would also agree with a theory that was being proposed by fans of the Perfect Dark series, who were convinced that a new game was currently in development after a resume from a former employee at The Initiative studio revealed details about what could be a new Perfect Dark game; or something that sounds very much like it, but really isn't.
At this point, however, it is very plausible that Rare and Microsoft would want to bring back one of the most beloved first-person shooter series back. Rare is a great developer, but it seems that it has not been able to deliver, for whatever reason, content as often as fans would like.
