In May of this year, fans got excited, after it was somewhat teased by Ubisoft, to learn that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game could be re-released. For those who may not remember, the game was released alongside the Edgar Wright-directed movie in August of 2010, and was pulled from PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Arcade in 2014.
Ever since Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game was pulled from online stores, players have been clamouring for Ubisoft to bring the popular beat 'em up; unfortunately, to no avail. This year marks both the game and the movie's 10th anniversary, and fans keep hoping to hear some official news from Ubisoft.
Earlier today, we reported that Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie director Edgar Wright was currently "working on the video game situation," which also led fans to believe that they could finally be getting some potentially uplifting news from the developer, and that they will finally be able to purchase the game again.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World series creator Bryan Lee O'Malley has just decided to take to Twitter some nees that may make fans excited, simply revealing that Ubisoft has reached out to him. Now, this doesn't necessarily confirm that an agreement has been reached, but it is certainly great news to know that at least there have been talks about bringing the game back.
Edgar Wright, in the most Edgar Wright way possible, also took to social media to show his enthusiasm for the news that O'Malley shared on Twitter, replying with a hilarious "This gets me ubihard," and also getting a reply from Scott Pilgrim vs The World actor Mark Webber, who played Stephen Stills in the movie.
Again, nothing has been confirmed just yet, but it does seem very plausible — now more than ever, in fact — that fans will finally be granted their wish, and get their chance to play Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game again. We'll keep our fingers crossed.
