Developer OtherSide Entertainment has released another trailer for
Underworld Ascendant, the latest game from legendary
Deus Ex and
System Shock developer Warren Spector and Ultima Underworld creator Paul Neurath.
Ascendant will serve as a sequel to
Ultima Underworld: The Stygian Abyss which was released in 1992. Spector and Neuraths are not the only skilled devs who work on the game.
The OtherSide team also includes
Bioshock Infinite’s writer Joe Fielder and
System Shock’s lead designer Tim Stellmach. OtherSide was founded by Neurath in 2013 as Cerulean Sky Productions. The studio is currently working on
Ascendant and the third chapter of the ground-breaking
System Shock series. The studio has announced that
Underworld will be available on Steam in September.
The latest
Underworld Ascendant trailer focuses on pure gameplay, and it looks extremely promising, despite some performance issues and dropping frame rate.
Ascendant seems to mix the best combat elements of
Dark Messiah of Might & Magic, the smoothness of
Thief, with the aesthetics of the good, old
Ultima. This trailer also kicks off the E3 2018 mania, so don't waste your time and take a look!
