As we turn the page to March, Sony has announced next month's free games for PlayStation Plus. PS4 owners are going to be quite happy as they get a total of 5 titles playable on the system: two exclusive and three via "Cross Buy."
First up is the critically acclaimed action RPG
Bloodborne. Developed by Bandai Namco - the developer of
Dark Souls - this 2015 PS4 exclusive packs a challenge as you hunt your nightmares in search for answers in the ancient city of Yharnam.
Also coming to PS4 is
Ratchet & Clank. Based on elements from the original PS2 title, this Insomniac Games' title offers "out-of-this-world-gameplay as Ratchet, Clank, Captain Qwark, and their new friends battle to save the Solana Galaxy with an arsenal of original weapons the franchise is renowned for.
Other free PS Plus titles coming in March include:
-
Legend of Kay, PS3
-
Mighty No. 9, PS3 (Cross Buy with PS4)
-
Claire: Extended Cut, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
-
Bombing Busters, PS Vita (Cross Buy with PS4)
Unfortunately, today's PS Plus lineup reveal coincided with an announcement from Sony that many will find disappointing. Starting next year on March 8, 2019, the PS Plus monthly games will only focus on PS4 titles and will no longer include PS3 and PS Vita titles. This won't affect any games you've already downloaded or will download over the next year prior to March 8, 2019. You'll continue to have access to those PS3 and Vita games as long as you remain a PS Plus member; game saves and other PS Plus benefits will also remain the same. As for why Sony will no longer include PS3 and Vita games in the monthly PS Plus offerings, the company explained:
Many of our fans are playing on the PS4 platform, with the increasingly vast number of PS4s in homes around the world. We’ll continue to prioritize the benefits you receive through your PS Plus membership, such as online multiplayer, online game save storage, PS4 monthly games, and exclusive PS Store discounts across content and network services.
As a reminder, next month's lineup of games will be available on Tuesday, March 6, which is the date you have to download February's free games.
