Capcom has at the very least two huge reasons to celebrate, as their most recent releases, the remake of
Resident Evil 2 and
Devil May Cry V are both vastly exceeding Capcom's initial sales expectations.
According to the Japanese studio,
Resident Evil 2 has already shipped 4 million units, while
Devil May Cry 5 has sold more than 2 million copies so far, "
successfully reinvigorating the brand" after Ninja Theory's original attempt at reimagining the long-running franchise with 2013's
DMC: Devil May Cry.
Given that Capcom's biggest games for 2019 have already launched, it comes as no surprise that the company is not planning to release anything new this fiscal year, with the exception of
Iceborne,
Monster Hunter World's major DLC, that will become available for PS4 and Xbox One September 6th.
While Capcom has not revealed what its studios are currently working on, it's rather safe to say that the
Resident Evil, Monster Hunter, and
Devil May Cry series will be its main linchpin going forward.
A new demonic invasion has begun with the seeds of a demon tree being sown in Red Grave City. Now fully equipped with his trusty Red Queen and Blue Rose, and a new arsenal of rad robot hands thanks to his partner Nico, Nero must rise up to this new impossible task. With such insane amount of energy and destruction emanating from this surprise invasion, the stage is now set for the latest chapter of the “Sons of Sparda” saga.
Devil May Cry V is available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC NOW!
