Joe: I understand you are the producer of TableTop -- what are your contributions for the show?
Adam Lawson: I was the producer and as the season went on I became the director as well. I produced the season from frame one. Sheri Bryant had me meet with Felicia day and Wil Wheaton and it went on from there. I’ve been doing these things for years, and Wil’s been awesome.
Joe: Wil Wheaton has been a household name especially amongst geeks for decades. What was it like working with the actor?
Adam Lawson: Wil at the core is truly a geek. He’s a daily guy. And I met his wife and sons many times and worked with them. He’s incredibly charismatic and funny and great off-the-cuff and smart and focused. I would certainly put Wil as the approachable person you would imagine he would be -- he is that man.
Joe: I met Felicia Day several years back and she was incredibly sweet. What was it like working with her on TableTop?
Adam Lawson: I worked with her for a long long time. On many of the Geek and Sundry shows, as thats sort of her brand, she started it. I have the best of times with her and its been a fun growing relationship.
Even before it was bought by Legendary and it was just tiny offices we were together making stuff. So we’ve had an awesome journey together and she’s witty and funny and a good creative partner because she’s very hard working about her creative and very disciplined which is a great attribute and can be hard to find.
Joe: What other trivia or interesting details can you share with us about TableTop?
Adam Lawson: In the first two seasons we shot in this downtown loft in Los Angeles. And the way it worked out was that they had this really cool green couch there that became the Loser’s Couch where the losers would sit and talk about how awful they are at the end of each episode.
Little did we know that there were other people who shot on that couch. The porn industry uses that couch quite a bit, so we started getting photos sent to us of people on that couch in videos. I remember Wil sending this to me and I just couldn’t believe it. What are the chances that that couch had been exploited in other ways? We always rent couches now, so that’s over.
